Five strangers before the 2013 Boston Marathon; five strangers who now share something linking them forever –at the precise moment when the first bomb exploded, they were taking their final steps to the finish line. Now, one year later, they plan to return to Boston to race again, where 3 people were killed and 264 injured – because they can’t imagine not being there.
the film:
5 RUNNERS offers a unique and compelling framework to mark the one-year anniversary of the Boston bombings and recount the harrowing events that unfolded in April 2013. The Boston Globe production follows the challenges as the five runners try to return to Boston for the 2014 marathon.
A 30-minute version of 5 RUNNERS premieres April 14 on New England Sports Network, but you will get to view the film before the general public on April 10.
5 RUNNERS is co-directed by Geoff Edgers and Darren Durlach for The Boston Globe.
